... Smileactives tooth polish!

I've bitched for decades about the ageism rampant in our culture, an extension of the mindless cult of eternal youth in its belief that to be older is to be worn out, decrepit, dingy, unsexy (autocorrect: "unisex"), bigoted, uncool, you name it ...

So there's this idiot commercial for Smileactives "pro whitening gel", and the lady announcer actually says something like this:

"You can leave your teeth all yellow, like old Nana or Pop Pops - or you can get Smileactives and have teeth six shades whiter in just seven days!"

The sick twisted nerve of those a-holes! I practically vomit every time they run that ad - so I am rather pleased to find that not only do I have company, but that their Trustpilot rating from users is a Poor 2.4 out of 5.0!

The Editor of this blog thanks The Editor of The Times Literary Supplement for publishing, in that paper's issue for May 8, 2020, his letter addressing topics that have him much engaged these last forty-five years . Hurrah for the CIA I have long been at one with the efforts of J.C. (NB, April 24) to rescue Encounter from its reputation among the bien-pensants as little more than a propaganda front for the CIA – the source, over its first decade, of secret funding, which came via private foundations and thence Encounter ’s publisher, the Congress for Cultural Freedom (CCF).
